Help

Install it, activate it,
and get your first clean photo.

Ten minutes, start to finish. If you get stuck at any step, raise an incident and we will get you moving.

Getting started

First run

1. Install SnapHide

Download the installer from the purchase page and run it. Windows may show a SmartScreen warning because we are a small publisher without an expensive code-signing certificate yet — click More info, then Run anyway. Nothing is installed outside the SnapHide folder.

2. Start the free trial

Open the app and choose Start trial. You get 30 days with every feature unlocked. No card, no account, no email address required.

3. Activate a licence you bought

Go to Tools → License / Activate. Paste the whole key we emailed you — it starts with SNAP- and is long, so copy all of it. Enter the same email address you paid with. The title bar will change to show your licence.

4. Clean your first photo

Open any photo, then press Ctrl+Shift+A. SnapHide scans it and shows you a list of everything it found. Tick the items you want gone and press Redact selected. Then Save.

5. See what a photo is hiding

Press Ctrl+Shift+P on any photo taken with a phone camera. You will see the GPS coordinates, the device and the timestamp buried in the file — and a button that opens that location on a map.

Troubleshooting

When something is wrong

It says my licence key is invalid

Three things cause this. You copied only part of the key — it is long, take all of it. You entered a different email from the one you paid with — keys are tied to that address. Or your annual licence has expired. If none of those apply, raise an S1 incident and we will reissue it.

It didn't find the Aadhaar number in my photo

Usually the text is too small or too blurred to read. Photograph the document straight on, in good light, filling the frame. If the number is not legible to you at full zoom, it will not be legible to SnapHide either.

It flagged something that isn't private

Untick it in the review list before you press redact — nothing is changed until you approve it. If it happens consistently with a particular kind of number, tell us. We tune the rules on real reports.

It missed a face

Switch the sensitivity to High in the face detection dialog. Very small, heavily shadowed or mostly obscured faces are still hard. You can always draw a box over it manually.

Can I get the redacted part back?

No — and that is the point. Black box and noise permanently overwrite the pixels. Always keep your original file. Press Ctrl+Z to undo before you save if you made a mistake.

Is my photo sent anywhere for the scan?

No. Disconnect from the internet and try it — everything still works. That is the simplest proof we can offer, and we encourage you to check.
